When we first heard the story of Uddipan and Suprabha, it was hard to believe for us that destiny could play such a bigger role in two people’s lives. Our first question to Uddipan was how he stumbled upon the app to which he remarked, “A year back, I saw a popup of the app “Betterhalf.ai '' which said it will help me find compatible partners. It was maybe intuition, but I got interested in checking the app out. During the initial 2-3 months, I didn’t use the app much as I wasn’t feeling the same due to some reason. But suddenly one day, my phone notified me with another message flowering the connection request from a girl named Suprabha Samanta. A day later, I explored her request and started the conversation. With each day, our conversations grew deeper, and we started to feel free with each other. We shared our stories regarding our past life. And that’s where we felt compatible with each other to a level that no meter in the world can calculate.

‍Suprabha was equally joyful sharing her experience with Uddipan. When we asked about her side of the story of finding a partner like him, she answered.‍

“ It’s just one of those things where you feel your frequency getting matched with someone perfectly. This was the factor that brought us together in no time. We regulated our conversations to know each other well and while doing so, we made sure to include the time with our families as well, working out daily. And definitely, finding time for ourselves at the end of the day was the priority. Although our educational backgrounds are completely different - She is pursuing her Master’s degree for now, and I am engaged in an IT job. However, we did find time to interact with each other on other common grounds. We love discussing our professions as well. To be specific, we used to retrieve the time for us out of our daily regimes that only happens when you feel both to be on the same page.”

At this point, we asked them about that special “thing” that made both of them fall in love with each other, their answers surprised us, “ People do ask us the same question all the time to understand how we landed in a committed relationship so soon but frankly speaking with our own experience, it just happens. Suddenly, you just know that it’s right for you. There are no specific rules and regulations for falling in love, and you get to realize that all of a sudden”.

“Finally, when we felt that our connection had been deepened enough, we decided to meet each other. But the only difficult part of our relationship was the 220 km distance between us as we live in different cities (Asansol & Kolkata). Though in the same state, it wasn’t possible to meet regularly but Suprabha’s perseverance made it possible in August 2019.” 

Reminiscing about the day, Uddipan added, “As per me, I had butterflies in my stomach, and was a bit tense wondering how things would turn out. We only had a day or two with us, that too, on weekdays. I had no other way but to make an excuse from the office to take a day off for her. We were aware of the feelings we hold for each other in our hearts and decided against committing to each other forever. Hence, I found my way to propose to her and with a delightful acceptance, she didn’t say yes. Instead, she hugged me. And it was so lovely that I won’t be able to forget it.”

With the Covid crisis looming around us, the idea of committing forever enveloped in a marriage faced a slight delay. Uddipan understands this as the whole world is going through a crisis currently. 

“We made it clear to our families about our relationship and willingness to stay together throughout our lives. The only prominent hurdle at that time was our physical distance, and now it’s seconded with Corona. We had our plans of setting down this year with our families’ acknowledgment, but the current situation worldwide has postponed it indefinitely. I hope everything goes fine and we tie the knot very soon. But to club the feeling, I would say that I have never been happier before I had Suprabha in my life ❤️“

We felt the conversation was turning a bit sad. To ignite the joy, we asked them about their memories of the meeting. And it worked. The couple rejoiced every moment of their meeting. Summing up their beautiful experience, they said, “ We used to hear a few years back that long-distance relationships bond a couple better than the rest and now, we have the evidence right in front of us for our very own selves.” With a smile on their face, they continued, “Hence, our phones were the only medium of contact to keep in touch with each other. It’s a general feeling for the majority of people that the dating sites are the ones where people hook up for a casual time pass. But it all depends on your perspective. Earlier we too were on the other side unless I found each other.”
