They say that love is a beautiful thing, but what's even more beautiful is finding your best friend and soul mate in the same person. There's something magical about the idea of sharing your deepest thoughts, fears, and aspirations with someone who not only understands you but also supports you unconditionally. This magic turned real for Sanjeel & Pooja when they matched with each other on the Betterhalf app in 2021. It has been two years of togetherness for this now-married couple, and they are each other’s confidant, a partner in crime, and a source of endless laughter and joy. 

While their story was making us fall in love with love a little more, we were curious to know about their fairytale in detail. We wasted no time and approached them for an interview, and the hero of our story today, Sanjeel was kind enough to reveal his love story exclusively to us!

Sanjeel and Pooja were residing in the same city, Mumbai, for years before they stumbled upon each other on Betterhalf! Wanting to know more about their initial conversation, we enquired how they finally came across each other. 

Sanjeel chuckled a little as he remembered, “It was 17 September 2021 when we first interacted. Though we were a little reserved and hesitant initially, it didn’t take long for us to open up to each other.” He further added, “ We had a lot in common, so getting comfortable with each other was an easy process”

So, it felt like a match meant to be on chat, but how great it was in person? We wanted to know about Pooja and Sanjeel’s first meeting. Sanjeel smiled as he exactly remembers what Pooja wore that day. “It was a quick date. The cafe we were supposed to go to had closed, so we had to change the plan at the last minute.” Nevertheless, in the 40-50 minutes that they spent together, the couple knew that a beautiful journey was about to begin. 

And, they were right! Soon, they were going for bike rides and Sanjeel was singing for Pooja on their dates. Sanjeel informed us, “We have own our likes and dislikes but it makes us happy to do things for each other. Pooja likes riding bikes and I love being a pillion rider with her. I like to sing and she’s both my biggest cheerleader and critic”

“What makes you both so compatible?”, we asked intrigued by their story. 

“The comfort that we share”, was his answer. “We share our deepest insecurities without the fear of being judged. We enjoy each other’s company even when we aren’t doing anything.” Ain’t that a dream come true?

What about their ‘this is my betterhalf moment’? “When did you realise that she is the right one for you?”, we asked Sanjeel. This reply was simple yet heartwarming “There was no particular moment. I vibe with her like nobody else. It’s like we have been best friends forever. The comfort that I felt around her made me realise she was the one”

Everything was perfect! But, who proposed first? What was it like? “We had been hanging out for 6 months, and both of us knew a proposal was in line. I remember joking about how I wanted to propose to her creatively rather than asking her out like everyone else”, Sanjeel shared his proposal story with us. He revealed that it was Pooja who finally managed to up come up with a creative idea. “ One day, she gifted me a cute jigsaw puzzle. On solving the puzzle, it said ‘Turn it over’. On the back of the puzzle was a beautiful collage of our pictures with the cutest proposal written on it.”, He added with the brightest smile.
