What would be your reaction if we tell you that this couple met on our app while one of them, a Software Engineer, was testing our platform? The story of Pavneet and Simranjeet started with a beautiful coincidence, navigated through a few lies, and would reach the destination of 'Marriage' very soon.

Unlike other people, Pavneet was on Betterhalf.ai for professional purposes - to test the features of our app. Little did she know that she would get to meet Simrajeet there. For Simrajeet too, finding Pavneet was sheer luck. Among all the profiles he swiped right on our app, he connected with Pavneet. When we heard their story, the thought of sharing it with you guys instantly came to our mind. We took their consent before writing the story. So, without wasting any more time, let’s start!

Our first question to Simranjeet was about his experience on dating & matrimony apps and how he connected with Pavneet. Starting his story, he said, 

“It’s been a long time since I am using these dating and matrimony apps. I was also using Betterhalf. Here, everything was new for me. So, there was a time when I was swiping right at every profile I was coming across. One of the reasons behind it was I don’t know how to properly use the platform. I clearly remember that I saw a profile on Betterhalf. It didn’t have any real pictures - only generic kinds of wallpapers. Also, there was no bio. Nothing. 

However, the name on the profile was quite different. Like other profiles, I swiped that profile right as well. Soon, I got a match with the profile of Pavneet, the profile I’m talking about. Luckily, she is the one with whom I’m going to marry. 

Once I matched with Pavneet, I tried to talk to her. Honestly speaking, when I started talking with her, I was not sure if it's a real profile or not. After exchanging a few messages, she asked if we could shift our conversation on Instagram. When I saw her Instagram profile and started talking with her, I knew she was a real person and not some fake profile.”

Pavneet and Simranjeet connected on Betterhalf for the first time in January 2021. Once they talked enough with each other, they decided to meet with each other in Chandigarh. When Simrajeet told us that it was the profession of Pavneet that made them connect on the app.

“She is a Software Engineer, and she was testing something on the app. While doing that, she came across my profile and swiped right.” Well, this perfectly explains the reason behind the absence of real pictures and bio on Pavneet’s profile. 

There was a familiar kind of joy in Simrajeet’s voice when we asked him about their first meeting. Talking about it, he said, 

“She was far more beautiful in person as compared to what I saw in her pictures. When we started talking, we didn’t commit to anything and make any long-term plans. One fine day, she was in Chandigarh for a meeting. When I got to know this, I asked her to meet. So, she was a bit confused about whether to say yes or no. I sensed that and told her that it’s perfectly okay to meet and don’t think of it as a date. No need to put undue pressure on yourself. I live in Delhi. So, I lied to her that I live in Chandigarh only. I picked her up from the bus stop in Chandigarh. We went to one of the Starbucks and talked about what we do, what we like and the story about how we met on the platform. After that meeting, I went to Ludhiana a few times. She also met with parents, I met her parents and things moved further.”

A meeting with parents. A situation where most people don’t feel themselves. And when a meeting is about the prospect of marriage, the scale of fear touches new heights. Also, these stories are always lovely to hear. So, we asked Simrajeet about the experience of meeting with each other’s parents. Sharing his side of the story, he told...

“Pavneet came to Delhi to meet my parents. She couldn’t tell her parents that she is going to Delhi to meet my parents. So, she lied that she was traveling for a meeting. I only told her mother about her coming to Delhi because my father’s quite strict and conservative. My mother shared it with my father but he clearly said that no unknown girl should come to our house. I was really worried about how he would behave when Pavneet would come. But then my mother helped me. She made him understand that we should meet her once and if you don’t feel comfortable, we will not take things forward.

When Pavneet came home, my dad met and talked to her. Luckily, she is so charming that my father liked her. He also asked when he can meet with her parents and discuss other necessary things. All in all, my father agreed upon our relationship.”

After she met with my parents, I decided to go to Ludhiana to meet her parents. She didn’t tell them that I’m the person with whom she wants to get married. She told them I’m just a colleague friend working in her company. When I met her parents, they told me about how they wanted to get done with Pavneet’s marriage within the next 12 months. When I heard that, I got really scared initially.

An individual’s decision to get married to a person is the most crucial decision in their life. The reason: marriages don’t happen more than once, most of the time. We asked the lovely couple about that exact moment when they found out that they’re sure about getting married. Talking about it, Simrajeet said,” When her parents came to my home to see everything - What kind of home we have, what kind of person we are, etc. They came here and were very happy with everything. They just had one concern - our home. We live in a flat in Delhi. But we managed their concern later.

Also, let me tell you one secret now that her parents didn't know that we met on an app. For them, it was an arranged marriage. Before they were about to leave, they jokingly told my father that now it's your turn to visit our house and we will be waiting for you. My father said we will come.

After a month, my dad was ready to go there. So, we informed them a day before yesterday we were about to go to Ludhiana. They asked if we could bring some religious things so that we could do the Roka Ceremony. So, that function happened unexpectedly. When we reached there, we decided to do the engagement ceremony as well. So, both of these things happened on the same day. And that’s how we were sure of living our life together forever.”

For Simranjeet, the kind and supportive nature of Pavneet made him fall in love with her. Talking about the things he likes most in her, 

“When I got to know her, I felt she was quite kind and supportive. I was looking for someone like that. When my mother met her, she felt the same. Before that, I didn't commit anything. After hearing my mother's thoughts about her, I was sure that Pavneet is the one for me.”

Since Pavneet and Simranjeet are going to get married on 6 February 2022, we wanted to know what marriage means to them. For Simranjeet, she recalled a thing that Pavneet told him. 

“When I told Pavneet about my commitment, she told me that if you are going to commit, you will have to do just one thing - Delete the app from your phone. 

For me, Marriage is a big big deal. And you should only say YES when you are ready and your heart says YES. If not, you shouldn't do it and ruin someone else’s life. People often complain that these dating and matrimony apps don't help them find their betterhalf. 

But I feel that if you have a good heart and find it with good intention, you will surely find your partner. People always complain that everybody they meet on these platforms is fake - which is false. You can surely meet real people there and find your betterhalf.”
