Delhi and Kolkata are the two most prominent Indian metro cities located around 1,500 kilometers far apart from each other. These two cities are so far from each other, yet so close if two people are destined to meet. A few years ago, we couldn't think of two people getting connected, falling in love, and getting married. But, the Internet has diminished the (line of) distance between people who want to spend their life together. All thanks to matrimony platforms like Betterhalf.ai that are helping people find their partner as per their preferences. 

Roma Saha, from Kolkata, and Prateek Vats, from Delhi, are two such people who connected through our platform, fell in love, and are going to get married soon. Now you know why we started this story with the distance between Delhi and Kolkata. Now everything is making sense. :P

Every time two genuine people get to connect through our platform, we feel a bit more grateful and blessed each time. We got in touch with Roma to hear their story, how they met, and everything else. “I'm from the East Side of India - Kolkata, and Prateek is from the North Side - Delhi.” That's how Roma introduced herself and Prateek. 

Whenever we talk to any couple who met on Betterhalf, we want to know how they met and how much time it took them to meet their compatible partner. 

“It has been six months when I met Prateek on Betterhalf. I was looking to get settled. So, my primary aim was to find someone on the same page as me. I didn’t want something casual and waste my time. And luckily, I connected with Prateek around one month after I signed up on the app.” Roma told us when we asked about her connection with Prateek. 

When two people connect on a matrimony platform, initial interaction is something about which different people have different opinions. For some, a cakewalk, while for some, a big headache. Roma and Prateek didn’t face any trouble interacting with each other. 

“Our conversation started with little things. When we started talking, we found out that we both like so many common things. Also, initially, we started talking as two friends but as we kept talking with each other, our relationship grew stronger.” 

So, did you guys meet in person? How was your experience of transitioning from online conversation to meeting flesh and blood? - This was our next question as soon as Roma finished her answer as we were so curious to know about their first meeting. 

“For our first meeting, we went for lunch. It was quite extraordinary. The whole setting, atmosphere, and food. Everything was so good. Also, the fact that I was meeting Prateek for the first time made me feel out of this world

During that first meeting, we talked and talked. And that made us realize that most of the things between us were the same - Family, Hobbies, etc. We both love dancing and singing. Also, I feel very comfortable around Prateek. Plus, I didn’t have to pretend anything. So, everything was very natural for me.”

For Roma, Prateek’s joyous nature is her most favorite thing that she likes. “During the first few meetings itself, I realized that Prateek is humble. The way he conducts himself and treats other people around him is something I like the most. Also, he is very down to earth and respects people.” 

“That’s why, after dating him for three months, we both decided to get married. He asked me first. And it wasn’t something surprising. We both knew that we would be perfect for each other. We had no doubts regarding spending our life together. I knew it was something always on the cards”, Roma told us when we asked her about their conversation about taking a big step like marriage. 

Our next question was about any interesting incident or some memory that she wanted to share with us. Talking about it, Roma said, “My favorite memory with Prateek was during our holiday. We went to Kasol, Himachal Pradesh. The whole trip was quite romantic. It was a surreal experience for me.”

When we asked her about their marriage plans, she told us that they haven’t fixed a date yet. Our parents have also met with each other, and they were also quite happy during the meeting. So, we haven’t got a date yet. But it will happen soon. :)

Sharing her plans about marriage, Roma said, “I'm looking for a simple wedding. I am not a big fan of weddings filled with crowds. By simple, I want it to happen in the presence of family and close friends who would feel as happy as us in the marriage. The marriage should be peaceful.”
